Contacts sync is breaking on some devices running Android Oreo

One of the most basic and convenient features of life in Google's ecosystem is contacts sync. From email to phone numbers and Google+ profiles, you know that whatever platform you are on, you'll be able to reach out to the people you need to with a minimum of fuss. But for some this essential feature isn't working correctly, and contacts aren't being successfully synced to their Oreo-powered Android devices.

There has been ample griping about the high cost of Google's Pixel phones, much of it completely reasonable. Dropping $850 on the Pixel 2 XL just isn't feasible for a lot of people, but you can get a good discount on a Pixel 2 or 2 XL today if you don't mind going through Verizon. Pick up a Pixel, and Verizon will knock $300 off the total cost. As usual, this comes with some caveats.

[Update: Latest Google app beta update has a fix] Google Assistant on Pixel 2 is not detecting voice input through Bluetooth headphones

Most owners of OG Pixels can attest that Bluetooth on those devices is not the best. We've written a fair few articles about the various issues over the past year, but with the launch of the new Pixels we were hopeful that Google might have improved things somewhat. While Bluetooth performance so far does seem to be more consistent, we've just learned about one particularly annoying bug that Pixel 2 owners have uncovered.

According to the many posters on this Pixel User Community thread, when you connect Bluetooth headphones to a Pixel 2 or 2 XL and activate the Google Assistant, it makes a sound to indicate that it's listening but doesn't detect your voice.

One of the many issues the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have been revealed to have is poor audio while recording video.
