Not to be outdone by their newer, younger cousins, the OnePlus 3/3T have received a new Open Beta. This one contains some UI visual tweaks, various performance optimizations, and the addition of aptX and aptX HD support for yesteryear's flagship killers. Read More
Earlier this month, OnePlus started rolling out OxygenOS 5.0 (aka Android 8.0 Oreo) to the OnePlus 3 and 3T. Meanwhile, Oreo for the newer OnePlus 5 is still in beta. If you have a 3 or 3T, and you'd rather not wait for the update to be pushed to your phone, you can now download the system images straight from OnePlus' website. Read More
The new 5T hotness in town is getting a lot of attention these days, but OnePlus is giving owners of its 2016 flagship smartphones a big pat on the back today with its rollout of OxygenOS 5.0, its first official Android Oreo OTA for the 3 and 3T. This comes about a month after owners of these devices were able to get Oreo through the Open Beta program. OnePlus continues to boast impressive turnaround times for its stable build updates. With all of the OnePlus 5T news, and the admittedly righteous anger from some of the OP community, it's easy to forget about yesteryear's phones. Both the OP3/OP3T received another Open Beta update, which is supposed to improve the overall Oreo experience on the two devices. Read More
Just a month ago, OnePlus was caught collecting personally identifiable data from phone owners through incredibly detailed analytics. While the company eventually reversed course on the data collection, another discovery has been made in the software of OnePlus phones. One developer found an application intended for factory testing, and through some investigation and reverse-engineering, was able to obtain root access using it. Read More

The vast majority of Android device buyers don't know or care what a custom ROM is. And that's completely fine - a phone or tablet's stock ROM will be enough for 99.9% of potential users. But for the 0.1% that like to tinker, the development community surrounding a given device can drastically impact the value. There are quite a few popular custom ROMs in the wild, but LineageOS is probably one of the best overall. Read More
The OnePlus 5 may have come out, but that doesn't mean the company has forgotten about the 3 and 3T. Earlier today, the two phones were updated to Oxygen OS 4.5.0, introducing a pile of new features like "lift up display," Gaming Do Not Disturb, low priority notifications, and OnePlus' Slate font. Most of the changes in this release were already available on the OnePlus 5, but it's great to see them trickle down onto older hardware. Read More
I normally like covering the Open Betas that OnePlus puts out for its devices. Ever since the program launched last year, it's shown that the "underdog" Chinese manufacturer is cleaning up its act regarding updates (the OP2 incident notwithstanding). However, this time around, I'm left facepalming. Why, you may ask? Aside from the normal bug fixes and optimizations, OnePlus decided to change the boot animation... and I think that it's pretty terrible. Read More
OnePlus has always been praised for having clean, near-stock software, and a big advantage of this is that updates are much easier to push out. Case in point: the OnePlus 3 has already received Android 8.0 Oreo via the closed beta group, with the newer 3T and 5 receiving it soon as well. Plus, OnePlus is hoping for an Oreo public beta by the end of September. Read More
